Here at WANDO International, we envision a Uganda where widows are not forced to enter into the dangerous world of prostitution as the only means to the occasional hot meal. Instead, we see widows working and making money in respectable trades by getting an education and developing useful life skills.
We visualize a Uganda where unwanted children – products of prostitution and extreme poverty – are not forgotten, and do not fall into unbearable situations where even the bare minimum of survival is not available. Rather, we see these children having a fighting chance by being able to attend school. We see them surrounded by a loving, family support group essential to their physical and mental well-being as they are given the tools to transition into responsible, contributing adults.
Here at WANDO, we seek to break the cycle of oppression.
