There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land. — Deuteronomy 15:11
Extreme poverty has met its match. At Wando International we’re battling extreme poverty through three core initiatives. Each one is designed to help lift the Jinja, Uganda, community we serve out of poverty and change family trees, so future generations have more opportunities and a better quality of life than the last.
Completely free, child advocacy allows you to become a pen pal with a child in Uganda and exchange emails through our unique child advocacy portal. This is a great opportunity to bless a child with words of encouragement, learn about their lives and cover them in prayers. Your advocacy sends a strong message to your child: that they’re important and cared for.
War and disease have left over a million children without families. For $30 a month your sponsorship ensures a child gets healthy meals, an education, healthcare and a clean, safe home. You also have the opportunity to become a pen pal with your child and write them encouraging letters.
Sponsor a woman and help change her family tree. As you partner with a woman business owner, you help her hone her vocational skills, earn an income to support her children, provide a home and fund her children’s education. While many women are forced to surrender their children to orphanages who provide an education, your sponsorship helps a woman keep and support her children.

“I went on a trip with Wando to Uganda in 2014. I believe God sent me there for my precious Amina. I fell in love with that little girl the first time she ran up to me and held my hand. It is amazing to see the transformation. She looks so good and seems so happy now! I am looking forward to the next time I can go.”
