Nonprofit Celebrates 4 Years Going Strong!

It’s Wando’s birthday!!

That’s right! We said it.

It’s Wando International’s anniversary today!

We have been serving our communities for four years now and to be honest..we’re just getting started.

Our mission started back in 2013 when after taking several trips to extremely impoverished parts of Uganda, we saw how severe the needs were for both women and children living there.

Rather than sit back and just complain about these issues, we decided we were going to do something about it!

It began with the babies home where we rescued five children who were in extreme danger: physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

We took them into our home to love and care for them as our own.

Now that number has grown to 20 beautiful children and our blessings have been multiplying ever since!

Then the opportunity came for us to open the doors of a free primary school offered specifically to children living in the most vulnerable environment.

Marah primary school is centrally located in the Njeru slums where families are trying to survive day to day in extreme poverty.

By providing this school, Wando has gained access into the lives of this 3,000 person community.

Through ongoing outreaches, dedicated case mangers in the field, and spiritually lead service we have been able to make a positive impact in the lives of this Ugandan community.

Wando International has also now been able to partner with 60 women and enroll them into our vocational bead training program!

These mothers, grandmothers, and widows all learn the skills of how to roll beads, crafting them into beautiful pieces of jewelry, as well as business management and financial literacy.

Our mission is to empower these women so they can become self-sufficient and be able to provide for their families.

It’s been an AMAZING four years of continued service to those in need! We thank everyone who has helped us in our mission along the way.

We welcome you to join us on this journey!

About the Author:

For over 10 years Elizabeth has dedicated herself to serving others getting involved with outreach in her local community as well as international volunteer work in Haiti. In 2014 she learned of Michelle Huo’s work with Wando International to empower vulnerable women and children to shift the course of their lives. After taking her first trip to visit Wando’s projects in Uganda Elizabeth joined Michelle in 2015 to help her achieve her vision. Now Elizabeth is working to help students in third world countries like Uganda learn the skills that businesses and Non-Profits around the world want and need. By strategically partnering these students with SMB and Non-Profit organizations, they become empowered to lift themselves out of poverty while organizations benefit from increased revenue generation.
