Christmas With Wando:  Widows And Orphans

This year the women and children of Wando Int. came together for one big holiday celebration.

Wando International’s primary mission is to serve vulnerable women and children living in desperate conditions.  We do this through ongoing programs in Uganda such as the Women’s Bead Partnership Program and the Babies’ Home for abandoned children.

We couldn’t think of a better way to spend Christmas than to have the entire Wando family spending it together at the home!

Nearly all 60 women from the bead program came and spent Christmas with the mamas, aunties, and children at the home.

Celebration time at the home!

Staff members at the organization offices in Njeru worked hard to provide a humongous feast for all the women and children to eat.  The kids got to play with one another as the mothers, grandmothers, and daughters spent time in fellowship.

The group of talented jewelry artisans had even prepared a traditional Acholi dance for the event!

The time that was spent together with these amazing women will be cherished forever.  We were blessed this Christmas to be with our beautiful Ugandan family.

Children who we love.  Women who we support and encourage.

About the Author:

For over 10 years Elizabeth has dedicated herself to serving others getting involved with outreach in her local community as well as international volunteer work in Haiti. In 2014 she learned of Michelle Huo’s work with Wando International to empower vulnerable women and children to shift the course of their lives. After taking her first trip to visit Wando’s projects in Uganda Elizabeth joined Michelle in 2015 to help her achieve her vision. Now Elizabeth is working to help students in third world countries like Uganda learn the skills that businesses and Non-Profits around the world want and need. By strategically partnering these students with SMB and Non-Profit organizations, they become empowered to lift themselves out of poverty while organizations benefit from increased revenue generation.
